Is this familiar to you?
You stop by the store to pick up a few things and run into an old friend you haven’t seen in years. She went to college and now has a career she loves. She’s sophisticated and bright.
You share how you got married and had children. Your “career” now, (that you love), is being a full time homemaker.
Then… she asks that one question.
It’s the one you’ve been asked 100 times:
She’s interested in knowing not only how you fill your hours with child care and cleaning, but she also wants to know why. Why, she wonders, would an intelligent woman such as yourself waste her talents and skills at home. She truly doesn’t understand, nor does she believe this is meaningful work.
I believe God’s plan for women is still relevant today.
And I believe you can be confident in your calling, even if you struggle with the mechanics of it.
Whether you’re thriving as a homemaker, barely surviving (or anywhere in between!) you belong here.
Society makes you feel like homemaking is worthless, and a waste of time. Here at Confidently Called, you’ll gain the confidence that homemaking is right and good in the sight of God, and always worth the effort.
Jennifer, your posts inspire me and keep me pressing toward that mark. You have helped me remember that the home is where I am suppose to be…”
“Thank you for being a resource for women to know that there is NOTHING wrong with being a Lady, Mother, and Homemaker!”
Imaging waking up with confidence each morning, knowing you’re right where you’re meant to be and that no matter what your day brings, you’re living out your calling!

My Journey
As a little girl, all I ever wanted to do when I grew up was get married, have children and be a full time homemaker.
It was my white picket fence, meet my husband at the door with fresh baked cookies in hand, surrounded by clean-faced, happy children dream.
Once I married, I wholeheartedly jumped into homemaking, and rarely felt overwhelmed.
But then came the comments of others. Fellow homemakers mocked me for either keeping my children clean, my house uncluttered, or simply making breakfast for my husband each morning, and I began to struggle.
I started letting things slide at home as a result of the insulting remarks, and I experienced some of the chaos and overwhelm that many others have felt. Ultimately, I made a conscious decision to pull it together and put into effect all I knew and had learned in order to thrive again, and create a peaceful and orderly home, for my family and for the LORD.
I so appreciate Jennifer’s heart to minister to women, apparent in her tender instruction in Homemaking 101...” Kelly Crawford
