Homemakers. We struggle. We become discouraged, overwhelmed and unmotivated.
And I think I might know a reason why…
We weren’t trained in aspects of homemaking, and are now made to feel that there just isn’t any value in Biblical homemaking.
This image below… it might have been a popular slogan in the 50’s but it’s certainly not popular today. Quite the opposite in fact.
Today we read that it’s okay to leave our home a mess. We hear it’s okay to clean just the parts guests see. Or that spending time with our children should always trump housework.
With all of this, the tasks of homemaking become a nuisance. The nuisance turns into a chore and the chore becomes an overwhelming burden. Naturally this leaves a wife feeling frustrated, discouraged and hopeless.
Sigh…
Is there hope? Is there an answer to all of this? Yes! A thousand times, yes!
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2
God’s word is “quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit…” (Hebrews 4:12) and, “all scripture is… profitable for… for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
So when we are transformed by renewing our minds and read God’s word that pierces our hearts, offering us correction and instruction in righteousness, we can think the right way about our roles in our homes. And since we are what we think in our heart (Proverbs 23:7) we will begin to live victoriously. We will begin to have homes that honor the LORD and we will begin to become less, much less, overwhelmed and frustrated.
As a Christian homemaker, redeemed by the LORD, you truly and honestly do have what you need to thrive in your home and find joy in your tasks and service to your family. I do know from experience though that this can be easier said than done and I want to come along side you and offer you a resource that will prayerfully be an incredible blessing for you!
Allow me a few weeks, as we continue to create this new course to help you learn how to be productive at home. It will come with a planner that I made for myself and have used for years (Why didn’t I share this with you earlier?). We have plans to re-record the videos this week (the first set just wasn’t right).
If you feel led, would you pray for us? That the LORD would guide us through this process of completing the course, fine tuning it and giving you the tools, information and encouragement you need to daily be productive in your homes.
If you would like to add your responses to the survey I used to select our test group, click on the pink and yellow house, above in the sidebar. My husband, mom and oldest daughter still at home (18) spend time each night going over each of these responses, outlining the material so it will be the most help to you!
Each of you are a blessing and incredible encouragement to me! Your responses show that Biblical homemaking, even amongst struggles, is alive and well in your hearts. Maybe you just need a few necessary tools and a bit of guidance to get you where you want to be. We plan to have this ready in November.
All for His glory!
Jennifer,
I will definitely be praying for you during this process! Looking forward to when this is available. I know it will be a blessing to many!!
Thank you Teresa! It’s such an encouragement!
Oh I can’t wait!!! Will definitely be praying!! I often feel discouraged myself. And you are right, in this day and age most are not trained to be homemakers. That proves difficult. I feel that homemakers hunger for encouragement, guidance and approval. Great post! Looking forawrd to what’s to come! May God bless you!
Thank you! And I agree, completely… homemakers do hunger for encouragement, guidance and approval.

Oh this sounds wonderful! I have learned so much from you through your blog and DVDs. I’m sure this will be another excellent resource! Right now my biggest struggle is keeping up with the basic needs of our home while having a newborn and 4 other sweet kiddos that need my attention. Trying to figure out our new normal without being too overwhelmed. The Lord is gracious!!
The Lord *is* gracious! 🙂 We are working diligently on this new resource, I pray it will be a blessing!! <3
